GenSurv+ expands the existing GenSurv project to include multi-resistant pathogens using the example of CPE. The aim is to improve the collection of whole genome data of bacterial, multi-resistant pathogens and to contain the spread of this "silent pandemic". The project integrates genome data from the participating sites as well as necessary epidemiological metadata into the GenSurv Data Hub (https://cogdat.de/) and analyses them. The analysis will provide information on the molecular epidemiology of CPE through the characterisation of resistance and virulence determinants and on putative transmission events using phylogenetic approaches. As a result, the Data Hub will support public health authorities in making informed decisions on infection control measures to prevent the spread of CPE. This will be an important element of cross-sectoral capacity and network building to improve pandemic preparedness and management.
