The spokespersons of the DIC Leadership Forum have been elected: Congratulations to Dr Michaela (Mila) Hardt University Hospital Tübingen and Timo Fuchs, University Hospital Regensburg! The Data Integration Centres (DIC) operational management teams are represented in the DIC Management Forum. This includes 40 DIC locations.
One of the tasks of the forum is to coordinate and position the DICs, which is necessary for the harmonisation of infrastructure development across consortia and locations. The DIC is usually an institution within the hospital and is generally closely linked to the clinical computer centres, which ensures a close connection to the patient care systems. The tasks of the DIC include the transfer of data from various data-providing systems, the consolidation and processing of this data as well as ensuring data quality and data protection. The processed data is then made available for use in medical research.
The DIC were integrated into the Network of University Medicine (NUM) in 2023 and have been funded by the BMBF as part of the NUM ever since. They will continue to be developed via the Medical Informatics Initiative (MII) and managed by the MII. A new and joint logo for the DIC will symbolise this close cooperation in future.
